Update on my 3.4

Since I have been hammering you folks for questions the past few months on engine parts, I'll let you know how its going.

a. Picked up engine last week
b. Ripped it apart sunday, monday.
c. Took heads apart, and de-bured them. Not really a port or polish, but got rid of casting flaws, alot at that.
d. Dropped them off for 3angle valve, check deck, crane springs and retainers, 24 new seals all together. This is by the most recommened shop in my area.
e. Left intake with shop above, he is going to media blast it.
f. Installed brass freeze plugs
g. Engine painted to match car.
h. Oil mount mounted
i. New timing chain on, but forgot to install guide, with loose bolts behind cover
j. brand new what appears to be cast billet water pump
k. ordered new dipstick, it has arrived
l. ordered hopeful custom 1.6 rocker setup
m. oil pan has arrived

This weekend, plan on installing oil pan, fixing timing guide, installing idler arm on suspension. Also purchasing head bolts, head gaskets, lt4 knock sensor, and possibly plugs.

Dale,

What in the teal blazes is a "hopeful custom" 1.6 rcoker set?

Eric

Great progress BTW- I hope to get my boxed LCA's with the new ES poly bushings, freebie un-bent like the old one track bar, Eibach sportlines and KYB's on the rear, and if I'm REAL ambitious and I don't hit too many snagglies get the frontend re-bushinged (lower control arms) new TRW balljoints, Eibachs, and AGX struts in. Maybe.

This may sound stupid, but why an LT4 knock sensor?

eric, I will let people know if my idea works.

Bes, the LT4 has one of the noisest valving of any gm engine. Their for, from the factory, between the knock sensor itself, and the knock sensor module (we dont have one, they have removable chip) it helps eleminate spark knock. Install the sensor in another engine, less chance of you getting a wrong reading. If this isnt enough, their is a resistor trick you can do to it also. This orginated in LT1 cars.
