How is everyone's V6 holding up?
My car is literally falling apart, andy good interior peices I had have now been cracked from the single digit weather. Rust is getting beyond my control, among other things rapidly deteriorating.
The engine and trans still remains solid and always starts up every day and runs fine (even with out that Maf screen I wish I still had). I still pretty much dislike most of my thirdgen now, but at least its still remaining drivable for me till I can get another thirdgen. I was just wondering how everyone elses is doing?

Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
My engine and trans are 100% since the head gasket change and porting of everything i could get my hands on. I have the same cold weather here too i know what you mean. I only have a small surface rust on the drivers side wheel well so i guess its doing good.

well my v8 is driven everyday and in great shape, my dads v6 is in the garage broken. Two complete shelving units are covered w/ various engine components, the entire ac unit is sitting on the floor with the radiator. various interior pieces are strewn throughout the car, and it needs about 7k in bodywork/rust repair. The paint is still beautiful though where it hasn't rusted

The 3.4L has a bit over 7000 miles on it. Leaks a small amount of oil and no coolant. Lifters are tapping slightly, but thats due to a stupid error on my part putting the motor together. 700r4 blew up well before the 3.4l was in.... T5 went in. Been in there for several months. 15000+ miles. Used out of a junkyard. Does fine. Rearend has the usual ever so slight whine. Runs rich on long interstate cruises for some reason.
Creaks do get worse when youre away from home for several months with no tools...sucks. Hopefully SFCs and a STB this summer will help out that problem.
No idea on the mileage the car has.... but ive put a bit over 50k on it since I got the car probably 4-5 years ago.

So I got a vac/boost gauge installed today.. and I go out onto the highway to give her a run and see how much boost I'm actually running.. 1st gear was very unimpressive, registering 3psi max.. 2nd, ~3500 rpm was producing 4psi and climbing.. ~4000, she's happily zooming along.. WOT... WHHEEEEEEEE*BBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR* ... as I was in the throes of the heart attack I glanced in my rear view to see how big the puddle was and see if I saw a rod bouncing across the highway.. surprised to see nothing.. coasted her most of the way back home.. noticed thanks to this vac/boost gauge that she was still pulling pretty decent vacuum.. turns out the exhaust crossover decided to drop.. *phew* She's doing rather well, otherwise. 165k
I'd been wondering how I was going to get that tightly fit crossover out in order to pull the passenger side manifold and do some grinding to help increase exhaust flow.. so, the car having done it for me, she's out of commission while I do some porting.
Just thought this fit into this post better than starting a new thread over it

holding up
my cars holding up in negative weather and mountains of snow pretty well, starts up without a problem, little bit of rust on drivers side rear wheel well, and both my exhaust pipe tips have spotty rust on them, but doing fine. Could use a completely new suspension though!

My engine? It's not. Simple as that. Heads are coming off soon.
The body? Paint sucks (done myself in a hurry to just get it one solid color). Suspension has surface rust. Unit body is perfect with one small patch of bare metal from the leaking t-tops which have been fixed. And to quote Dale, "Rust? What's that?
" There is no rust on the unit body itself. Not bad for 195+k, is it?

engine slowly getting weaker I think. Exhaust manifold leak slowly getting worse (waiting on 3.4 swap). tranny doing fine (until I start pulling a trailer here pretty soon) installing a cooler though. Paint still peeling (passenger side mirror paint is latest victom)
But........found a 3.4 (unfortunatly it's $650 and I don't have a job yet, so still waiting) and i plan on painting it this summer maybe.

everything is good except for my motor and transmission,
2 2.8s and 3 700r4s are gone, one of the 700r4s were free cause i had warrenty,
2 of my 700r4s lost 3rd and 4th gears, one started leaking tranny fluid and blew up, lost the mains in both the 2.8s
so now i'm looking for a v8 to put in

I'm really not sure. I havnt been able to drive it in like 9 months. Cause I got into an accident early last year and spent 3 months in a coma. Im still trying to recover from that. and my car died while i was in the hospital. So its been dead for like 8 months. I really look foward to driving it again.
it will be good

Mine's doing all right but not liking the winter. It's an '84 so it has the E2SE 2BBL on it; I start her up and she runs fine, but has carbon-rich exhaust. Nothing that a little "stretch of the legs" won't clear out when the snow FINALLY goes away.
Upgrades this spring:
1 Edelbrock STB
2 new driver's side door (old one has rusted lower corner)
3 install my new hood
4 new struts
5 new coat of paint
6 new windsheild (lousy cold weather....)
(order may vary)
