Can someone identify this leak?
I have noticed that a clear fluid similar to power steering fluid sits ocassionally on top of the P/S braket. I check the P/S fluid and cannot see it losing any fluid so I am wondering what it can be. Around the P/S cap from time to time there is grease and oily film which I clean up and over time comes back but I assume that is normal. I attached a picture with a yellow arrow showing where the fluid sits on the bracket. It sits just below the bottom bolt that holds the A/C bracket on top of the P/S bracket. I am getting a new P/S cap which is cheap and I thought would be worth the money since it's more than likely as old as the car. One thing I wouldn't want the fluid to be is anything associated with the A/C. Freon would leak but go into the air but something like pag oil that is in the A/C system would it look the same as P/S fluid?

Compressor oil is the only clear fluid I can think of getting there.. there's not many "clear" fluids in an engine to begin with..
Yes, that car is equipped with cruise control. The cable with the 2" long slot on it attached to the throttle lever is the cruise hookup.

Yeah it has cruise control. I can only think of 3 fluids that are clear, compressor oil, brake fluid, and P/S fluid. I checked the back of the compressor where the lines connect on the back and saw no visible signs of leakage. The problem is the A/C bracket is full of grease and oily buildup which makes it hard to find a leak. If it is the A/C compressor where might it leak from besides the back? Around the pulley? The A/C comes out cold and the compressor seems to run fine without binding or slipping.

Well I am getting the P/S cap so we will see about that. I looked at the compressor for leaks and did not find any the first time but I will look again where the wires connect into it.
