Lost Bolts for Tranny swap... what do I do?

I had all my bolts for my 5 speed swap in a ziploc bag, and after moving 3 times in the last year I can't find it. What can I do to find new bolts for the entire thing?

shouldn't u be able to just find some grade A bolts with the same TPI? if you don't know what type of bolts they were, call GM , they'll be able to tell you the correct style bolts that go to your engine/tranny, might be able to buy them from them too.

You go down to a dealership and ask them the sizes of all these bolts as you need them, then go find them in grade 8 hardware at a parts store... worst case you buy them from the dealership (pricey as hell, what I did)

yep, what i did when i had to get bolts for the northstar for the stand, but...they were just to hold the engine up, still not cheapo's but , didn't destroy the pocketbook.

Remember too that a standard (SAE) grade 8 is equivilant to a metric 10.9. If you try to buy bolts that are stamped 8.8, they're too weak- that's equivilant to an SAE grade 5!

The local pep boys used to have bins of bolts & nuts that were grade 8 / 10.9 ... then the bins went to hell (disorganized), and now the damn bins are gone. They had to make room for their stupid Kraco car stereo aisle and LED-light-up exhaust tips and "racing seat covers".
