Car: 85 firebird
Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
Get a hayden adjustable fan switch, a relay and a lower tstat.

Wire it all in, put the probe on the upper rad hose, cover it with a hose cover or braided stuff.

Set the fan to come on when you want it to. And forget about it

I did this months ago my car runs VERY cool now compared to the stock setup.,

Thats why you dont hook it up like hayden says to, you wire it to a relay that only gets power when the car is on, that way when you turn the car off the fan(s) turn off and your batter doesnt go dead.

Yes, it is. The green/white stripe wire at the relay isn't being grounded properly. Probably a wiring fault.

What kind of relay do you use?

I used a regular automotive 12 volt relay. I think its like 30 amps if iirc. It has 4 terminals on it .

a ground

a power in

a power out

a turn on wire (wired to a key on source)

This way the relay will supply power to the fan switch which inturn will turn the fan on at a temp you set. none of this will work unless the key is on. No dead batteries,no burned out switches in the dash from the fan. No worrying if the stock setup will turn the fan on. Car also runs way cooler.
