Mileage Question

Hey guys, hows it going?
I did a car fax report on my car and according to that, I should have more milage then i do on my car. It says i should have over 180,000 and now I have 128,000. Any idea on hwo to check the actual milage? Also in 88 for the 2.8 firebird, what speedo was in there? I have a 120 mph, is this stock? Thanks guys

Heres a copy of the report:

Maybe the person who put the mileage on the title put an extra 1 in there, because I seriously find it hard to believe that little 2.8 would go 115,000 miles in two years. It sounds like it went 15,000 miles and someone just messed up while writing it down.

I don't know about when GM switched to the higher speedo, but my 87 had an 85 MPH unit. It sounds to me like the previous owner of your car upgraded the speedo for some reason (maybe the old one broke or he just wanted to think he was able to go faster) and never had the odometer rolled to the proper milage (probably didn't know where to send the unit to have it done).

It's pretty unlikely but not impossible. Back when I worked for Toyota, a guy had a 2 year old Corolla with 200,000 miles on it. Ran perfect too.

Yeah, IDK, Is there a way to track down the orginal owner? 115,000 miles in a year seems alot though plus the engine runs stronge still.

on mine, it does not have that exta number that represent the 100,000 mark. im just asuming i have 127271 miles but it reads 27271. why didnt GM add the extra number that tells you ur at 100,000 in there?

The gauge you have should be stock, since I have an 88 bird 2.8, with the 120 mph gauge, and I'm pretty sure that its bone stock.
