Recommended mods for 3.1 liter ??
I was wondering if there are any 'simple' add on mods for my '92 'bird. The only thing on it now is a K&N, and soon maybe a Flow Master exhaust. Aside from messing with cams or things like that, are there any other simple things I can use or put on to make the car a little quicker?
Thanks,
Chris

Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
Honestly no.
You can do things to make it run better, but not truely "faster"
and very little for dirt cheap.
CAI, TPI style.
Dynomax Cat back.
Pacesetter headers
many cam makers.
roller rockers.
NOS or NAWWWWWWWWZ if you must.
obvious rear axle/gear changes.
shift kits.
shifters.
Injectors.
porting and polished intake/heads.
Power pullies.
ignition system MSD ect.

Hopefully (if I can get ahold of a SD system to tune it on) a VP turbo kit... but that definetly won't be the cheapest way to go... LOL - Nitrous (NOS is a brand name!!) is the cheapest way to go fast.

if you've got a tuned port GTA, i don't see the point in dumping tons of cash into a six, and like you said, you only want a little quicker, and a little cash. I'd say tinker with it but that's about all. Nitrous is the best bang, but it's not like you're going to be out street racing people anyway, not in the 3.1 atleast, and if you lost, then tell them to race your other car. Gears would be nice, and could be felt day in and out, so i'd put those in for a little peppier ride. The TPI (camaro) intake could probably be modified to work, but it'll definately not be a bolt on, as the firebird hood slopes to much to clear the intake setup (thus the reason the firebird didn't get that design) Past that, it's more than up to you, i'm sure you'll be able to find some small items for cheap, just don't expect any night and day difference, however, if your car won't move out of it's own way, the little modifications might help you in that area.

everyone always rags me when I mention TPI, but guess what...
HE HAS A BIRD
TPI wont work on it that I know of
As others said, you have a v8 for another car. Just keep a good tune up on it. Then install cat-back, Home made CAI, crank pully, and maybe some 1:52 rockers and call it done.

As far as exhaust, I reccomend Dynomax Super-Turbo Catback exhauset systems. It is a full exhaust system that will improve performance, and it costs all about $160. Thats my 2 cents.
