V-6 In a Citation
I was just reading over vsixtoys' post about the v-6 bible performance post, and rwad that the 2.8 was introduced in the chevy citation ciationin 1980.
I just realized (newbie that I am) that I had this V6 engine in my used 1981 citation. (this was a few years back)
I put over 200000 miles on that motor, before I got rid of it. I remember driving to work one day in the freezing cold and not letting the motor warm up. Needless to say, I had to pull over as it started overheating, and belching . I swear that the exhaust mainfold was red hot!. Boiling over, steaming, everywhere, I though for sure I had blown the engine. Since I had to get to work , I left it with the tow truck to take it to the shop. I called tham back later in the day and was expecting the worst, that indeed the engine was toast. Turns out all they had to do was replace the frost plugs, thermostat, rad and hoses.
I ran that car for another 20000 miles before eveything else started going wrong with it and I got rid of it. I wish I would have had the time, money, and space to hold on to that engine now.
That motor was one strong MF!

Search for X-11 citations. They were the hi performance version. had the FI 6. One of the first with a cowl type hood factory and very peppy. They were neat cars. Id love to have one just for kicks.
