fuel pump problems

fuel pump problems

i gotta 84 firebird with a 2.8 outta a 86 s-10,i am putting in an electronic fuel pump and it needs to be close to the gas tank,but their r like 3 lines commin from the tank and i dont no wich ones puttin out the gas,ne help would be appreciated,thanks 84frbrd

Best bet is to just lift the car up and see which line goes to the pump. But in '84, I believe that one line should still (like the 85-up's) go right to plastic tank vent, which is just above the rear axle (on the driver's side), so you can eliminate that one. Of the two lines left, one goes to your charcoal canister. The left-over line is the pump line.
