T5 Swap

Is this a complete list to do the swap....
1. Trans (check)
2. Bell Housing
3. Bolts-Trans to Bell (new)
4. Shifter (check)
5. Pressure Plate/Clutch/Throw-Out (new)
6. Piolit Shaft Bushing (new)
7. Clutch Fork
8. Ram/Res/Hose
9. VSS
10. Peddles
11. Dust Shield
12. Flywheel (check)
13. 3:42 Gears (check)

Ok, gotta cut a hole in the floor, mount the peddles, cut a hole in the firewall. What wiring will I need to do. Do i have to change the PROM also?

There is a good guide on the swap in the tech section . You would have do wiring on the clutch safety switch and the reverse switch for the back-up lights. The existing PROM will work, but performance and driveability will be improved if you swap to a manual PROM.

Let's see...

Um, one thing that just came to mind: will the torque arm and cat-converter mount from the auto tranny bolt to the manual?

Also, use new clutch-to-flywheel and flywheel-to-crank bolts. I picked mine up at the GM dealer:
I had some problems with that though...I went in there and told them I needed clutch-to-flywheel bolts for an 89 Camaro with the V6 and T5. They looked it up in their computer - it showed the same bolt P/N for all engines, and that didn't match up with my Illustrated Parts Catalog. So I asked if they could order the P/N listed in my Catalog for 86-91 clutches: 361919. They said that part is not made anymore, so I told them to go ahead and order the ones the computer listed. I figured that GM should know their own stuff...well...the bolts were totally wrong. Way too big. I checked my Parts Catalog again, and noticed a different P/N was listed for clutch bolts for 1992 V6 w/ T5 cars: 24571667 - so I asked them to order those (which are still made). The bolts arrived and worked great.

yes the VSS hooks up from the 700R4 to the T-5....i did mine in march and havent had a single code yet from that(other than the pesky EGR code grrr not related)

parts list looks complete from what i remember ,be sure to cover your windsheild if you use a cut off wheel to cut your floor i screwed up my windsheild that way lol

everything should bolt up to the t-5 just as if it were a 700R4 as far as i know, im not positive as i had a custom exhaust on it before i did the swap and didint use the bracketry

i used all the old bolts that came with the tranny and havent had any problems with the old hardware but im cheap so do whatever makes you comfortable with buyin hardware

i do have one driveablitly problem with the auto prom...not sure if its realted or not but my car cant seem to find idle when slwoing down rpms with jump up and down about 500 or so as i slow down with the clutch depressed...sometiems it dies, but ive mastered turning with the car dead and restarting all in one motion

thats all i can think of at the moment....

the manual prom will help as it holds the rpms up a sec or two longer while you shift.

Its a good thing to have. auto's are suppose to, suppose to just drop off when you get off the gas.
