Question about cooling....
Why is it a bad idea to leave the 190 stat (or 195 whatever it is) and just put a lower temp fan switch? Wouldn't this keep the car from overheating? I put in a 180 stat and a 200* fan switch and my gas mileage has dropped 100kms per tank! (i'm not sure if it's due to that) I will be swapping in the 190* stat to see if it makes any improvement. From what I've read, its ok to put in a 180* stat and leave stock temp fan switch. Whats the best thing to do?

people do it so there car will run cooler, engine run cooler means longer engine life but less mpg, engine running hotter means that your burning more fuel but the engine life shortens

It's not bad at all to have a stock thermostat (195 degree) with a lower temp fan switch. It'll just keep you out of the overheating "danger zone" a little better. But it won't hurt anything at all.
The lower temp thermostat could definately make your mileage worse, as kretos pointed out.
Oops, although, there's one mistake- engine running hotter usually means you're burning less fuel than the engine running cooler.
