-Aluminum Driveshaft-

I want to upgrade my driveshaft to an aluminum one on my 89 RS. Would the ones from v8 camaros/firebirds be a direct fit?

Yep. Hit it with a magnet, to be sure it's aluminum (it won't stick)

think it was an option on the later model v8 cars, probably only the L98's, although it's possible that the LB9's got em also. LS1 cars are a guarentee, and i think that LT1 cars got them too, atleast some did. Sixers don't have them from the factory though, so look for 4th gen ones from a v8 ride. orget on ebay.

JG1 denotes an aluminum shaft for 3rd gens, and I think that all 98-02's got the aluminum, but I am not sure about 93-97.

Some how GM managed to get the same drive shaft/Torque arm in all camaros (don't know about the TTA) from 84 & up.
I'm glad they did, or else we would have some kind of drive shaft made of swing set metal or some thing just because it's a V6.

Why are you going to an aluminum driveshaft? I went with one on my 87 firebird and wasnt too happy with it. I mean it wasnt bad or anything i just didnt notice anything dramatic. For the cost i was expecting something more. I was hoping it would help stop high speed vibration but didn't seem to make any difference. If you are going for weight reduction it works. Email or send a message if you want mine cause I dont need it. Nice sales pitch ehh!
