Idle on 86 Camaro 2.8L wayyy to high!!

Hi guys!
Hoping someone could add some suggestions. My 86 Camaro 2.8L throttle body idles way too high when cold and when warm. No vaccuum leaks that I could tell. Replaced Idle sensor. Didnt work.
Idles between 2500 and 3000 when cold.
Drops to 1500 - 2200 when warm and when driving, however it will drop to 1000 RPM when sitting in traffic for a long period of time.
Car ran great in summer! Idle prob came about with colder weather.
On average it will idle at around 2200 RPM when warm, except when running in one spot for a long time.
No engine codes come up.
I have a big sledge hammer in the shop, and thats looking like a good fix for it.

I would check the IAC. the connection on mine is pretty touchy, if it doesn't get connected just right, it hangs open. and idles high.

Huh. I wasnt aware that the 2.8L V6 came with tbi in the camaro. Is it an efi swap using a carb or tbi intake? I too give my vote for the IAC. Probably worthwhile making sure the connections are secure and that its not coked up. Also, Id go back and very carefully check all the vacuum powered accesories and the area where the tbi mounts for vacuum leaks. Unplug them one by one (except for the MAP) and plug the vacuum port and see if it improves. One possible suspect is teh PCV valve. It might be stuck open.

I'd try TPS, hows it run when you get on it?

Thanks Guys! Problem is solved. Replaced the PCV and that straightened out the idle a bit, but the major problem was in my cable and linkage. Seems I put her down to the floor too hard on a few too many occasions and bent the support. Also the return spring was causing a problem as it was too weak, so I straightened stuff out and replaced a few parts and all is working well!!
