Dedication to the V6

How long have u guys owned your v6's for? Personally i've owned mine (first car) for about 3 years. Started with 112k now it's got 142k, still running strong (other than that starting problem ) Trying to run this motor into the ground, I think it can easily hit ~200k

the car, the car with the 60* engine, or just the car w/a V6?

I'm in a gray/quasi area here. But I've had this (almost) never ending project since Aug 01. It's been an education. Never knew what a torque arm ws until I got the car, and I've done more work on it than my 77 T/A.

well...my gf bought the car from the original owner in early 2001. It had a junkyard transmission, don't know if the engine was original or not. About a year after she bought it the engine broke an exhaust valve, at about 180000 miles. We towed it to a friends house and he slowly pulled the engine and tore it down. She bought a long block for it and there it sat until march '04. She had bought a '96 Camaro so had lost interest in getting it back on the road. When she paid off the '96 I asked her what she was doing with the '87. She asked me if I wanted it. A few days later the title was in my name. I finished putting the long block together, did some other repairs, and got it back on the road in August. So I guess the answer is I've owned it 9 months. Been driving it for 5 months

I have no doubt that your engine will go 200K. The 3.1 in my Trans Sport has 208K on it and still runs strong.

5 years heading on 6.

2k miles is easy. I got about 8000 over 2k and it still runs strong.

I will never sell my Firebird.
Worst case, it will sit in the back yard and rust away till its gone.

Or buried in the back yard like a murder victim.
pour a cement pad over it.

Cheaper to rent a backhoe. Get one with a 30" bucket.

I'd still have my '88 Formula...but someone decided they could profit by stealing it and stripping it. Had 10 miles on it when I bought it, 88000 when it was stolen.

Got mine with 18 miles on it. I still have it today. With 165K and counting. I had to buy a V8 car since the V6 will not die.

Bought mine in December of '93 with 65,000 miles.
Started driving it in January of '94.

Now it's December 2004, and I've got 267,000 miles on the clock. Original motor, third trans, third rear, four accidents (the last one was in 1996, where I totalled it and then rebuilt it with a frame from an '84 Firebird) and I'm heading towards my third restoration this spring.

Not bad for owning the car 11 years, huh?

4 years for me. Just have to get the body redone after it living most of its life in Maine with the salt on the roads in the winter. Most everything else just gets changed when I feel like it, and it doesn't give me any problems...cept that dang alternator belt...

3yrs, 165k miles and still runs strong, starts with little problem everyday, only recently hesitates and studders because it's usually under 10degrees when I start her. Only thing I NEEDED to change was the shocks and struts, maybe an alternator by now but I did that when it was still preventative maintence. I've thought about selling her but could never sell her.

Had my Camaro for about 4 1/2 years now. Bought it with 123,000 miles, it now has 320,000. Other than a little blowby the rings she runs strong. Original motor and trans. Only replaced the clutch once when it blew up. I asked the mech who changed it for if I could see the old clutch. He brought a box up that a bunch of small chunks of twisted meltal. I was laughing till he told me I was lucky that I didn't damage any thing else.
