Sold the 16g for $320
Picked up a T61 for $330.
Great. Like that poor back wheel had a chance to start with.
Ordered a billet aluminum oil feed flange, and oil return flange. Also ordered a laser cut 1/2" flange, T3.
Here goes nothing... just gotta order the new 2.5" mandrel bends next week.

Posi will destroy his entire drivetrain. At this point, the spinning tire is probably the only reason he hasn't ripped his clutch apart at the seams or snapped his input shaft.
Torque doesn't break things... traction does.

I laid down 222/291 at the wheels with a 16g.
Now comes a T61, then a wideband O2 (OMG REAL TUNING YAY), then new intake/throttle body (by this point, I expect to be pushing 320-340hp @ 12psi on a STOCK 3.1! Provided I don't blow it up, of course
)
Then comes the GEN III head swap, forged turbo pistons, and 3100 intake base + custom plenum
Oh yeah, and 18psi.

I don't think I'll blow up a forged 3.1! I do plan on finding the weak point in the main caps tho
90cam....... thats an understatmen!!!!!
Doward what is your time tbl looking like for this 3.1 project????
my motor & tranny are just about 70% dead (needs a lot of love)and i was thinking about just letting it die then swapping up to an LS series but if can get you rplan up and running with anywhere near those numbers then i guess it'll be time for a little rebuild
Doward style!

Man, I am beginning to seriously consider scrapping my built v8 idea and go with a 3.1 and Doward's turbo.
EDIT: It would definitely be worth it just to see the reaction of everyone who ever told me "shoulda gotten the v8".

What is a better starting point? 2.8, 3.1, or 3.4?
I'll probably be swapping in a 3.4 soon, but if a 3.1 is better for turbo ill get that. And im going to have to figure out a neat way to get around visual smog checks.

The 3.4 has higer compression, and larger displacement, therefore will yield more torque. I've heard of 5 psi on a 3.4 making close to 300hp...
You'd have to check out Tiagos stuff tho, Doward hasn't messed with the 3.4 yet....but he will

I'm still waiting to see this new intake manifold Doward....

For now.... gaze on this...

Yes, I know it says 'super T70' Whatever. It's a 60.5mm Garrett T61 wheel.

There will be a group buy... well, undecided - there WILL be a group buy, but due to various things outside my own control *cough* TGO's rules *cough* I may very well simply open an online store of custom built 60º V6 performance parts.
The Turbo GP will be the first major undertaking.
Time until '730 completion? I aim to be speed density based, by February.

Absolutely. I believe I will be including it standard in the kit, unless someone WANTS to stay MAF based.

Ive had my latest beater for a year now. 85 sunbird still runs great 330k miles. 3rd gear is questionable. Theres mushrooms growing in the back. 17 dollar flat black spray job. Its its never let me down.

Congrats Doward. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing a potent V6. I hope you can make it an LS1 killer.
What calibration are you planning to use for tuning? The GTP bin?

GTP bin for Doward, sy/ty here... one of these days I need to get around to doing the math for a base tune of my setup. Doward, on the other hand, is cheating, and is starting with a base tune
Has the GTP bin been reverse engineered in the public domain yet?

Not that I'm aware of.... if it has, I might have to go a different route. Road less traveled and all that

Well, it's for the 68HC11 series, so disassembly isn't an earth shattering concept. If it hasn't, rest assured I'll blow the lid on it

Or I could just go "Hey, someone already made a $8F hack... duh" ... cuz someone did.
When TunerPro 4 is released (it's overdue by 3 days) I'll start work on an open format definition for it using the new tunerpro definition system... help keep folks buying the turbo kit from getting stuck purchasing TunerCATS or, deity forbid, GMPCM *shudder*.
EDIT: Sorry Doward.. since there's already a public domain hack, it's kinda hard to say you're pioneering the $8F usage. Welcome to normalcy.

DAMMIT!!!
Ok, I'm going to have to find a different route.
Actually, I probably won't do that. I really like the idea of the '730 + $8F code. It's less common than the $58, and, IMHO, a touch more powerful.

Having the hack on hand, I'm gonna have to compare it to Grumpy's $58 hack and see which route I really want to go... I'm gonna get one heck of a headache off this.

Yanno, you could save me the trouble of finding it, and send it this way...
I'd like to compare it to the TDF I've got of the $8F, and see if TunerCat might be able to add anything to it

so ~$2900 comes with EVERYTHING needed to make a stock 3.1mpfi thirdgen into a Fire-Breathing beast??
turbo
intercooler
wastegate
headers
custom piping
anything else??
I might have to sell my car to buy your turbo setup... then when I can afford it later, I'll buy another thirdgen...

Does anyone know what a better deal would be... using my freshly rebuilt v6 with a $2900 turbo kit, or buying another v8 car for the same price and just having two cars??? -- I hear that the 350's are suprisingly easy to rebuilt by yourself.... but even with a rebuilt v8 I wonder if it could match Doward's 400+ rwhp?
considering that now I've invested close to $6,000 into this damn car, there's NO CHANCE I'm gonna sell it.... so either I upgrade it with a turbo (only worthwile upgrade,) or get a v8 car to beef up.

I'd go the turbo route, I mean... how many V8 Camaros vs how many turbo V6 Camaros do you see??
Besides... Increasing power past the standard V8 involves more $$$ and parts swapping (new heads, cam, headers, etc)
On a turbo motor, it's just as easy as turning a **** for more power

Quick question, How long do you plan on the kit being available or will it be a limited run thing? Im probably like alot of people that dont have the money now but will later on, just curious.

I'm going to do a big group purchase, to start with - right around tax return time, to help with the lack of money problem.
Will I be doing them later? Possibly. I'm doing this one big one (aka, putting aside the time/resources to do it) for the V6 community - after this, I *might* do some more, but people will have to work around MY schedule, then.

Quick update...
The T3 flange to 2.5" round pipe is complete, and I'm now measuring out a bracket for the T61... it's blasted cold here in Sunny Florida, so not much going toward the turbo right now
