so after reading the site a little bit, i figure most of the time the fix for the Choke warning light would be the alt.? if so what would be a fairly good replacement but doesnt cost an arm and a leg, just got the car 2 days ago so i need to get a few things settled before i get it inspected.

If you dont want to spend allot go to autozone and get there CS series i belvie it is or it might be valuecraft not sure thats there lower end models normaly have a 1 year warranty insted of a lifetime warranty. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM CHECK THE PART BEFORE YOU LEAVE. When i worked there i made it a habbit of testing parts before i sold them to the customer and some times i would end up with a bad part even though it was new.

The brand I got is Autolite rebuilt by Ford people. Yes. It is a quality rebuild, I must say.
Went thru one bad "new one". I'm on second.
It's life time warranty (I've used it!)
Yes, VERY important to make sure right one is offered to purchase.
You need a 105 AMP unit.

well after some debating with people ive talked to this doesnt really seem to have any 86 parts on it except the hatch? O_O wtf? any of you guys have a carfax report avalible for me, if so ill get you my VIN. this is urgent and i want to know what the heck is going on. the engine isnt carbed, rather its TBI...which is from the older birds as far as i know, and in 86 they had the MPI

IF it's a Throttle body
IF it's a V6
It's from a Blazer/S-10 truck.
IF it's a bigger V6, then it's totally wrong!
Send us a picture...
Did you buy this from someone in PA?
I recall some guy trying to convinve us some weird V6 combo would work (BESIDES A LATE 1990's 3800 series!).
Send us a picture.

That's a perfect swap!
WHAT DOES THE TITLE VIN & VEHICLE VIN SAY? DO THEY MATCH!
I say you have a 1982-1984 Firebird (front end is 1982-1984).
The back hatch is 1986 & later (CHISML).
The brake lights are 1982 to maybe 1986.
Wheels started in 1985 to later years.
IF the title VIN and the vehicle VIN don't match you do have a bigger problem.

Back bumper cover is 1982 to 1984.
I say you have something amiss there.
Like proper car year produced dated vehicle title.

title # and vin # match. i cant see the date on the door...its faded away, either way the older bumper looks better and i got a good deal on it even if it is a frankenbird. front main is now leaking though which has me feeling down, since the acclaim is getting a new transmission(i dont know where my dad thinks im getting all this money )

OH and i had a carfax done for me, and everything is straight title wise, so i have no idea whats up with the car. were there ANY kind of options in 86 for this engine?
