ah crap shaking backfiring :(

well wouldnt you know it.
i took my car for an unnessesary drive tonight and noticed that just cruising at a steady highway speed the car felt like it was misfiring.

so after about an hour of driving i take the off ramp and come to a light. light turns green and i press the gas. car sort of moves, it more like shaked and backfired until i gave it full throttle. i stopped tried again. same thing. then i tried it while holding the brake. car just shook. tire didnt begin to burnout until i ave it full throttle. didnt really make much of a noise like a gear grinding noise. and its bugging me because it didnt throw a code. usually before it gets that bad it throws a code - i mean if it was tps or maf.

Check your timing, and your fuel pressure.

Two words
Fuel Pump.
My guess.
Especially after what you described.
Fuel pressure test is the ONLY way to solve this question.

Take it back to them for a pressure test (IF it can make it).
Or borrow their guage to do teh reading yourself.
IF all parts were not replaced, yes you can have a relapse. And even if all parts were replaced, yes you can have a relaspe. Stinks.

well i finnaly have use of the garage in the house im renting, so i decided to change the oil. i was gonna do that anyway.

so i had the sucker in the air and with the engine running i started unplugging things to see if it would make a diff. first thing was maf. it changed the idle. reved it up still crappy. then i touched the tps. the engine went crazy. seems the wires are frayed at the coupler. i hope this is the problem. my mechanic menioned it, bu said it was ok for now. i grabbed a spare coupler anyway from a firebird. will cut solder and heat shrink to see if its fixed. for free too.

will be back after i eat and tinker.
