Mechanical or electrical fuel pumps?
What fuel pumps came on the MPFI 3rd gens?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of mechanical vs electrical?
How long are fuel pumps suppose to last?

My car still has the original fuel pump in it. 180,000 miles. I know it is the original, because I know both of the previous owners of the car.
You are faced with ONLY TWO CHOICES for the fuel pump issue.
Either it works, seamlessly,
or you are repairing it.
For my 1985 S-10 Blazer 3.4 conversion I had to upgrade switch to an electric fuel pump.
3.4 blocks have no provision for a mechanical pump.
That was one of my last "hold-ups" for returning car to road.
