Considered mid engine...yes a FWD motor can be dropped in the rear and work. Alot have northstar conversions!
Well the significance is that there were only 1500 made in 1984 in full mint condition they are selling for over $8500.00...they were replicas of the actual Indianapolis Fiero pace cars. The only sad thing was that they did not get the TURBOED super duty engine the pace cars got! If they had I would be modding the fool out of that motor...way more potential then ours! Thought about putting a super duty in it till I learned it was more expensive then a SBC swap! But the SD swap would be true to the pace car! So I have no clue what to do! With mine first off we are going to get it running with the 2.5 duke! And its a far cry from mint! It would cost me about $8500.00 to get it that way
Check the link in my sig and see how rough it is!
Since there is not a piece in the interior that does not have to be fixed or replaced, if I do restore it, it will be a long way down the road...I will either do nothing to the duke (no point), or put in a turboed lt1....not sure which! I'm leaning towards the lt1 turbo swap. At least it will fun as crap! Esp since I can't just leave well enough alone. Its going to get a few easily reversible (weekend) mods. Nothing like my car! (Wing stands which will raise the spoiler higher then stock, smooth body side moldings, and a replica pace car roof snorkle, which I will make functional. Possibly some functional ram air quarter scoops plumed to the intake! 18s or 19s in white :P) Just making it look less early 80s! Then I can just have the duke & stock parts wrapped up to put back on if someone wants it. If I ever sell it! I figure I could do all that long before I could ever get all the parts to restore the interior!
Joe has one that will get chopped and get a 383...and a 4th gen interior!
Heck if the 3.4 will not do what I want in RAIF and I go to the GN/TTA 3.8 turbo...I could put the 3.4 in the INDY!
I know a turbo 3.4 could really move that Indy! That engine as it sits now could probably put the indy in the low 14s just from weigh loss btw the 2 cars (aprox 1000lbs) and the fact the indy is a stick!

Yes the Northstar is a FWD motor.
On the lt1...Still learning all that...just a few days old in the fiero world. Will ask Joe! He has been researching the swap alot longer. V-9 Archie sells a kit...I may run a google search on that and see what his site says!

Nope, its an adapter to match the 2.8 tranny to the V8. The Autos seem to do better than the standards.

the "fear arrow", just do a search on google. I did that and I found it. Its a fierro with a 455 V8 in it that only runs 7.2 in the 1/8...I would have expected a lot more!

There are lots of different ways to go for engines and transmissions; I'm going to use a 4T80E from a Northstar Caddy and an AFR head 383 with a Holley Stealth Ram on mine. So as not to take this thread any more off topic, if you're interested in Fiero stuff go to:
