cat back question

I bought a camaro at the begining of winter last year, so im kinda new to the engine concepts. At summit they have a catback that i like(WLK-17495). Would this fit on my 1991 camaro RS V6? The pipes are the same size as what i have, but they say its for the V8. Will it fit or should i go a different route?

I don't believe it will fit, right now your stock set up has a Y-Pipe configuration. So, you only have one pipe to the rear of the car until it splits in the muffler. I think the v8's have an X-pipe, meaning two pipes run to the back. I might be wrong about the X-Pipe configuration, but normally V8 and V6 parts do not swap out.

I picked up a dyno max cat back system for my 3.1(soon to be 3.4 thanks to KED's advice) and it sounds phenominal. really deep tone, and it sounds great throught the RPM range. word of caution however, when trying to seperat current exhaust from catalytic converter, the bolts are probably rusted in place. I had to torch mine off, so if you encounter that problem be ready to either cut or use a lot of PB blaster on it.

On my car i just changed the y-pipe and cat and the intermediate pipe was changed not to long ago so it is still good. All i need is the muffler and tips. I like the tips that come with the 17495. Does anyone know where i could buy tips like that? I want them to stick straight out the back about an inch or two.

just buy the super turbo muffler and tips and have an exhaust shop make up some tail pipes to fit it.

most people have gone with the dynomax catback exhaust. its got good sound and a lil performance to it. if you just want sound, you can get a muffler, but if youre looking for any kind of gains, youre going to want to get rid of that I-pipe, unless you already have a mandrel bent one. most catbacks have a bigger I-pipe and theyre mandrel bent. that was one of the best bang for the buck mods i did, aside from headers.

I do have an aftermarket i-pipe. I was looking at mufflers from dynomax. Would an Ultra Flow SS be better that the Super Turbo, or is it the other way around?
