Could this idea be useful?

Just an idea. Could one make a spacer between upper an lower intake manifold to get rid of that sharp bend between them. Would it make the intake good enought for our engines?

well the problem would be that you would have to have a cowl hood to fit it and im not sure how much better it would flow being that passageways are quite small to begin with

on a stock hood, you have 2 inches above the top of the intake. if you think that you can do it, but you really aren't gonna gain anything cause the thing has passages that are too small. if you are thinking about porting the intake, good luck

i did that, too. i ran 1/4" spacers for a while. had them laser cut to match the gaskets. didn't notice any gains. i pulled them out while i was at the track and the car ran the same. i was a bit surprised that they seemed to make no difference.

i mean you could try 1 1/2 spacers and see if it does anything, but i really don't think it will work like am91 said from experience!

That won't change the rate of flow of the plenum. All you'd be doing is increaseing the volume of it. We need bigger passage ways, and there isn't enough material in a stock plenum to open up the holes/passages enough to make a noticible difference.

Ok, so the problem is the passageways not the volume of the manifold.
