Edelbrock Intake Manifold for 2.8!

Edelbrock Intake Manifold for 2.8!

Found this looking through the Summit...Part number is EDL-3785

Says Chevy , 2.8 Liter V6!

Anyone else knew this thing existed?

Axle/Gears: 3.73
i'm pretty sure that is the one that is the base for the carb setup.

it the one I am planning on getting it is for carbs. the intake is a 2 peice setup it hase the base the the top is changeable from 2bbl to 4bbl. works nice for the 4bbl with either a 390 or a 450 for a major moded engine

They are "pricey".
Looking at about $400 total intake
and
carb goes for about $300-ish new.
IF ya score them used DO SO!
IF ya want to buy the 2 barrel set up, increase the height of the factory intake slightly, for near same results.
I plan on trying that idea on my 1985 Blazer stock carb set up. My hold up on the execution is finding the longer bolts that hold carb to intake for my experimenting.
In end you are creating the longer runners that comes with Edelbrock set up.
That intake been around since atleast 1983.
IF you know welding, you can take a 4 barrel intake carb base and weld it to the factory manifold. Bill Grumpy Jenkins did that back in early 80's. Results were gains, too.
Best deal is scoring them used....these items are proven power gainers......

That intake has been around for years.

If that's not enough for you, there is an adaptor that can take 3 two barrel Weber carbs. Don't count on passing smog.

I haven't heard mentioned that 6 pack intake for ages.
Last I saw it was in the old Chevy Power parts Bible of late 80's.
That's a real rare score. I recall Chevy promoted it for the V6 powered Sprint car set up (with Webers).
The Edelbrock assembly is much easier to score.

Stupid me been playing with stupid cars for so long stupid me learned some tricks.
But serious, I recall reading the article of Grumpy Jenkins beefing up a V6 from Blazer/F Body when they first came out back then.
And the Carb'd intake is aluminum (as is a 4 bbl Chevy 350 intake). What Grumpy created wasn't exactly pretty but it proved the idea is effective.
This "design" was prior to Edelbrock making theirs.
I got lots of old pubs & such. Good resource information.
And seriously IF ya study the Edelbrock item, it "looks" NEARLY identical to the issued GM intake. Edelbrock "says" is theirs is "slightly taller" (hood clearence issue right!?), which accounts for my idea of mearly taking your stock one & adding a spacer to make it better! A couple of carb gaskets is cheap experimenting material, right?
I figure you mearly add like up to 1" taller for carb off base & all should be "better".
This idea has been used for ages, look at many other intakes, longer runners equal more power (not MUCH.....).

I need a set of carb studs to put on my new carb because my new carbs linkage is a half inch lower so it hits the valve cover.

Smocky Yunick took the stock chev. 2 brl. intake and made it a 4 brl. intake before my hero Bill Jenkins did.

Dood, I know exactly when this thread was started July 28, 2005. I have a degree in engineering and am a ASE certified technician. I don't miss a trick. I am doing some research, looking for a thread, I wrote the responce to over a year ago. It is about 60 degree V-6 camshafts.
