Ok, i'm new here first of all, so hello to everyone. Now I have just purchased a '91 Camaro RS with a v6. Its a little rough but I can make it work for me, just a daily driver to work and back. The first thing I would like to know it how the heck can I make this thing not run so rich. It's running so rich that there is black soot coming out the exhaust. The other question deals with the hatch/locking assembly but I will post that one later, in the appropriate forum. Thanks

odds are, one or several sensors are reading wrong or bad.
Start with what we call a tomp tune up (use the search feature).
See what that gets you.
Hatch assy stripping out is a commen problem, I ordered a rebuilt one from top down solutions who is a site supporter, their in one of the boxes at the top of the page. That will also not belong in the v6 section if/when you post it.
welcome to the site.

I'd check into your TPS settings to prevent things like this from happening:

suprisingly, I wasn't gettting any TPS codes when this happened.

iirc, that soot was pushed out of his exhaust right after cleaning the internals of the engine with seafoam.... after i did the same thing with mine, i had 1/4" chunks come out of my exhaust.
my advise on the matter is this, new oxygen sensor, new plugs, new maf or map, new coil, new dist and rotor, and new plugs. if that don't help, you got too big of injectors put in by someone who had the car before you.....
