Still getting code 32

Ok..to recap, I blocked off the EGR crossover pipe where it meets the throttle body. I used sheet metal as a gasket and then put the pipe back over top of that as if there looks like no mod had been done. Got code 32. Ok...still kept the sheet metal in place and removed the crossover pipe and left it hanging.STILL got code 32. Now, here is the WEIRD part. The only time I get the code 32 is in the morning time when the car is cranked from a cold start. It usually does it within the first 6-7 minutes. However, in the evenings, when the temps are warmer, I never get the code 32 at all. What gives? Does the temps have anything to do with it. Plus, after running with the pipe hanging free, there is a bunch of carbon that has splattered on the throttle body from the pipe only being off for 3 days.
