What did I break

To start off I have a 2.8l V6 Firebird MPFI. I started off as usual just going to fix some things real quick like and it seems a project has begun. I had a small exhaust leak at my exhaust manifold on the driver side so after looking at it for awhile I noticed there were two bolts broken off right up front. After figureing out that is more than likely where my leak is coming from I started tearing things down. I coated everything with a good coat of PB blaster and let it sit.

I decided it would be alot easier to get that pesky A/C and power steering out of the way so first to be unbolted and gently placed elsewhere were those. A/C is a must down here in Florida.

After getting everything out of the way I went to work on the remaining manifold bolt on the driver side which all came out with a lot of patience and a good ratchet. Pulled the exhaust manifold away from the head and was able to get one bolt out easily with vise grips. The other was not as easy it was also broke off in the head so I went and got a set of bolt extractors and ended up going a little too big so it is pretty well drilled out now. going to run a tap in it tommorrow and hope it works.

The thing I broke is on the front of the block it looks like some type of Sensor since it had one wire going to it and was attached to a blade type connector I tried to pull the connector off and the blade broke with it. It is near the top of the engine near the front on the driver side. not the ones near the Oil filter. Does anybody know what that is for. guess once I find out what it is I will be replacing it. In case it is a sensor I do have the idiot light and not guages if that helps. No cruise control either.

Once I get this side done I get to move onto the other side with 2 bolt broken in the back and I broke the bolt off today flush with the exhaust manifold where tha EGR bolt to the manifold. Guess that will be coming all the way out.

I think after looking at all the switches on partsamerica.com that it may be a temprature switch. correct me if I am wrong. is that the correct location for the temprature switch?

That should be the temperature sensor for the dash light.

Three temperature sensors on that engine: front top of intake manifold with 2 wires is for ECM. Passenger side head with 1 wire is for fan.
