I have an 86 2.8 and I have gotten it over 130mph but I know that the newer ones have a limiter, the old don't. I don't know when they changed that.

back when i had my 85MPH speedo i had my car to an estimated 110MPH. since i got my 140MPH speedo i have never had enough road (or *****) to try and get any faster then that.

I think it was 87-88+ that got the speed limiter along with vats.
But GM and other car companies had to start using them. It wasn't smart legaly to let a car go faster then the tires they put on it are rated for.
Would cost them millions to put better tires on cars.
