After Market Transmission Mount

I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get a transmission mount for my 1989 2.8 5 speed firebird. I have went to about 20 different part stores and came up with nothing. The dealer does sell it but it is around $250.00 and thats just insane.

I tried a few junkyards, but i would really prefer a new to an old.

i don't know much about the 5 speeds but i'm pretty sure you can modify the auto tranny one to fit. the energy suspension brand is a good mount and you'll need to modify the crossmember a little. someone step in please if this isn't feesible for his application.

hey!

i know exactly what your talking about ,.,.the one your looking for is round like a doughnut.,.,.,i could not find one either.,.,so here is what i did to my 88camaro 2.8 5 speed borg warner.,.,[manual]
I bought the universal for like $20 to down the cross member,.bolted a plate over where the stock mount used to sit.,then drilled holes in the plate for the new polyurathane trans mount.............. bolted the cross member back up and rested the trans with new mount on the cross,..,it bolted down just fine.,no more play [up and down ] with the shifter,.solid as can be.,.,

Its not a hard job and im sure there are a few oter ways youll be able to fabicate it to fit.,.,just take your time!.,,,,,,,also from my expirence if your ever gonna do your clutch keep in mind the upper bell housing bolt will be extreamly tight,..,

Exactly what I did. I think that much for a mount is stupid. Anyway, no one makes an aftermarket one and the reason it's so exspensive is because it's filled with hydrualic fluid to dampen the shock of shifts. I notice that I feel a little more shock through the driveline, but I think it's worth it to only spend $6.50 on a mount and have a little more vibration. A word of warning though, the trans will sit a little higher with the auto mount as opposed to the stock style manual mount.

you got a polyurethane trans mount for a manual from advance auto for $20? does it look like the stock one? or did you have to do any mods to it like they were talking about?
