Starting problem...Code 46
Well, I got my car towed home today. I did'nt have much time to troubleshoot it, but here's what I got so far. I broke out the GM shop manual and troubleshot the started enable relay. I disconnected the relay from the harness and jumpered leads A and E together in the harness. The car at least turned over, but still did'nt crank. OK, so I jumpered the ECM for codes and got a 46 only. Manual said VATS. I'm thinking it might be in the Passkey Module but did'nt have time to troubleshoot it cause of other things to do. I have another spare key that has never been used but did'nt do no good. So it's not a worn-out-key issue. Can't I disable the VATS as described in the tech articles? I measured the resistance in the key and got a .68 on the meter. I'm might try to disable it and see what happens. Puzzling though, when I put the starter relay back in it did'nt turn over but it did with the paperclip. Passkey related? Any ideas?

I'm thinking youre right. I know VATS disables the starter...and Im pretty sure it disables the injectors too, which would explain why it still didnt start when you got it cranking. A lot of Camaros have VATS issues...mine did, sometimes it wouldnt start...but if you wait something like 15 or 20 mins it would reset and start up. Sometimes the tumbler wont read the chip in the key properly
