Questions
Ok so i know that gm still makes the 3.1 engines for grand ams and what not to this date, will a 700r4 for a v6 bolt up to all the 2.8 3.1 and 3.4 liter engines from say 83-2005? Also will a v6 700r4 bolt to a 3.1 (opr is it a 3.4) dohc v6? I just got a court settlement for a car accident and figure on ebay i can get a 0-20k mile engine for under a grand, rebuild my 700r4 or get a 0 mile 700r4 (either option i want to modify the shift points or something so i get more torqe) for around 700 and then get a supercharger for 900-1200 and then lastly headers for 300, but i just gotta make sure that say a 2005 3.1L v6 will bolt to a 90 700r4, if not what replaced the 700r4 as the rwd gm tranny? is a 40% increase in hp good for a roots type supercharger? thanks for all the help guys, your help is very valuable!

Ok, there are many facets to these questions.
The short answer: Yes and No.
The long answers:
The FWD version of the 660, shares a similar layout in bolt pattern to the (longitudily mounted) RWD version. There are some differences, however, such as the starter location, it is on the opposite side. The lower bolt hole on what would be the passenger side is not threaded in the block, so will require a nut.
The replacement for the 700R4 is the 4L60, which then became the 4L60E. Again, these will not directly bolt to the FWD version of the 660, overhead vale or DOHC.
BTW, the DOHC was 3.4L displacement.
