Comp cam Info

Thought I would share this info with everyone since I started second guessing the cam I brought from them( comp cams). I have the 240H but wanted to upgrade to the 260H. This is the emial corresponses between myself and the rep from comp cams. Hope this helps anyone with their decision making when purchasing a cam.

Me:
My question is what can I expect from this cam over a stock cam. Also I was looking at the 260H cam and see it is the same price. Was it wise for me to purchase the 240H? Since I am not looking to race the car but add a little to the engine itself since I am rebuilding it. Basically what is the difference between the2 cams and what can I expect with what I have? Does it give me more topend power over a stock cam? The site says it works good with stock computer and fuel injection but thats all. I guess I am asking can get a little more information on the 240H cam that I have.

Comp Rep:

Well the 240H cam is a little bigger than stock and will give you more hp and torque over the stock cam and see a slight increase in rpm. The 260H cam is the next size up and will also give you more hp and torque over the stock cam and the 240H along with being able to turn a little more rpm over both.

Me:

The question I was really trying to ask is was it a good investment for the 240 over the 260H cam? As far as working with the cpu of the car was it wise to go with the 240 or does the 260 work just as well with the cpu?

Comp Rep:

Since you are asking about a cam for fuel injection then the 240H would be the choice over the 260H. The 260H is not designed to work with fuel injection. For some other choices we do have a section in our catalog that has more cams that will work with fuel injection and provide more power increase than the 240H.

Now don't get me wrong I am happy with what I have but if I can get a little more out of it why not. Judging from his response I will stay with what I have. What do you all think?

If you want a little more than what the 240 will provide, you might want to consider swapping to a higher ratio rocker arm set, say from the 1.5 to 1.6. This will increase overall lift, and a slight increase in duration.

is the 260 cam the one with 212 duration @.50 and .440 lift? if so many of people told me it will work with stock computer but its the maximum you can go before you have to change the chip.

Here are the specs:

These Specs Are For The Cam Installed At 106 Intake CL
Intake Exhaust
Duration At 0.05 212 212
Lobe Lift 0.2933 0.2933
Lobe Separation 110

I think this is what you were asking about but thats why I asked the rep. I've read on here that many have used the 260 cam. I just wanted to make sure I brought the right one. For anyone that has the 260 have you had any problems with it such as timing or anything like that?

Make sure you are refering to the "right" "260".

There is a 260 from Comp Cams and a 260 from Crane Cams. I haven't really followed the cam discussions on this board, but I know that most cam swappers using a genI/II block on other boards that I follow are using the 260-2 from Crane, which IIRC is a little more aggresive than the 260 from Comp, with the OEM ECM and have little to no problems. I'm running one in my turbo Hybrid and runs fine.

OK there lies the difference. You may be right but all the info I am getting is from Comp Cams. So I guess I got my cam from the wrong distributor. OHwell! I'm done with the engine now. I was going to swap the cam out but I'll just stick with what I have.
