AC Delete Pully
I have a 92 Camaro RS 3.1 V6, what I want to know is if the pully listed on GMPartsDirect.com (#10055890) will fit my engine or if it is only designed for the V8's. I know this has been beat to death, so I searched and found the article, but it say's, "This pulley is originally for 88-92 f-bodies and caprices that did not come with a/c that were equipped with an L98 engine".
Ok, going in a clockwise motion starting at the throttle body, my accesories go AC, power steering, Crank pully(with water pump right above it), smog pump, altenator, tensioner.
Any help or suggestion is much appreciated,
Max

If you get rid of the A/C you can just go out and buy a serpentine belt that will fit w/o the A/C pump on the car. Thats what I did after removing my AIR pump.

I tried just getting a belt go accros the gap, but I couldent get one small enough make it from the powersteering to the altenator without the belt rubbing the top of the waterpump pully. Might have just need to go alittle shorter.
Also, when getting rid of the air pump, will that long section of unsupported belt cause any flapping, other complications at high RPM?
Thanks,
Max

No, the belt will not flap, provided you get the right one. Some 87 ons came from the factory without the AIR pump because they burned clean enough. I have no A/C or AIR and my belt fits great.

One last detail, All I've ever used is off the shelf belts from autozone. I've seen some belts on here that looked thicker and more durable, better quality, less likely to stretch. Anyway, do i need one of these belts, and if so, what is the brand name? And does anybody have the belt size I will need, if not I'm just gonna try them out in the part store parking lot.
Thanks,
