Thermo Stat housing stud
Well lately I have been having trobles with my 2.8 mpfi and have determined that the thermostat was stuck shut causeing my drain **** to blow out of the rad, so I went got a new termo stat, gasket, and a rad cap because mine doesn't hold pressure. So to get to the thermostat housing I took off the throttle body and got the one easy bolt out with no issues and then moved onto the next one and it is a stud that comes out of the block. I got the first nut off that held a bracket on then moved to the next nut to take the housing off and I got about one turn where it was comming loose and then one turn that twisted the stud and broke off just above the block....
How can I go about getting it out without drilling it out because then I assume I would have to remove the whole top end of my engine by the looks of it, so any suggestions would be greatly apprecated!!!thx.

easy out
go buy a easy out, and a hardware supply store, some hardware stores would proboly carry them as well. its like a tapered rever thread drill bit. find a drill bit way smaller than you thread but big enough for the tip of the easy out to fit in and drill into it, then using a drill, or there is an adapter for a handle thats like 5 dollars more, and used the easy out as if you were going to unscrew a screw and it pull the broken stud right out. alltogether it cost like 20.00, but you can used it over and over. really a neat ltiile tool to have in case of an emergency
oh and if yo can fit a drill buy it you can used the easy out. plus you dont mess up your threading.

You're probably already screwed. Usually if the bolt breaks before it backs out, you're never going to get enough leverage with an easy out to get the bolt out. Did it break off flush with the intake? or flush with the top of the tstat housing? If its flush with the housing, remove the housing and try removing the stud with a pair of vice grips. You also might want to try heating the intake and the stud with a propane torch.
BTW if you break an easy off in the bolt, you're REALLY going to be screwed since it'll be hardened tool steel you're trying to drill out instead of a bolt.

Well it broke off about half way to the top of the thermostat houseing so yes there is a 1/8 of an inch maybe sticking up but the thing is, I dont think it is suposed to come out cuz if you have ever had to take it off you wold see that there is a nut then a braket holding a connector then another nut so I think that it doesnt come out.....
