its back, few problems

alright, so i got it running. few things, i fixed a bad connetion to the coolant temp sensor(for the computer), i think that was related to my timing problem, not being able to run good with the electronic advance plugged in. But just last night it acted up again, i popped the hood, unplugged the plugon the pass. side firewall for the elec. adv., it idled 100% better, plugged it back in, and it still was good. runs like a champ, but if it try to start it plugged in, runs like crap., Oh, and the fan kicks on as soon as i start the car, even when cold, i pluged in a different temp sensor to see if that was my prob, fans still ran when cold.

how was it running when you say like crap? where is this wire you are talking about unplugging? I've stabbed the dizzy three times and the car still runs bad. shakes putters. my fans are doing the same thing.

when i say it runs like crap, i mean, it will kinda cough in the exhaust, and when i drive it , it pops, sputters and pretty much cant accelerate. it is a timing problem. today at work, i tried to fix my code 15, soldered a new plug on for the coolant temp. sensor. no difference. the scan tool indicates -39*F. That will advance the timing into next week, because the colder the engine is, the more timing it adds. the warmer the engine gets, the bigger the difference between what the computer reads and what it actually is. The black wire for 5 volt to the TPS, Temp sensor, and manifold air temp. sensor is not giving 5v to any of those at thier end of the wires and no 5v coming from the ecm, im picking up my new ecm tomorrow and see where i stand. I still have no idea how it is running with no power to any of those.

Oh and the wire that unplugged. Look at the wiring harness that runs along the cowl lip on the passenger side, its a tan wire with a black connetor on it that you can unplug, that disables the ecm from advancing the timing, so you only have about 8 degrees of timing( i think thats factory setting), mine is right above the blower motor box thing

Try turning the key on and off 2-3 times before you start it.

each time just wait a split sec while on n off. Sounds dumb just give it a hoot n see if it will do anything.

You are to check and adjust timing with that wire disconnected.

factory setting with that dx, is 10 degrees.

As for how much timing it removed, depends on the load and what all the sensors are telling it. Can be 4 to 14 degrees.... on top of your mechanical 10 degrees.

Whoever it was that needed a picture of how my dizzy is in my car, speak up. I'm gonna be under the hood today.

I am needing a pic. I did find out that the #1 piston is on the left side instead of the right side on a v8. what's weird is that I got the car to run being switched liked that. It ran almost the same as when I got it corrected but a little worse.
