Gas tank leak question.
It only does it when I fill up and usually when my car is parked sideways on an incline (spelling) with the driverside going down the incline. I will put the passenger side on the lower side of the incine to keep fuel from leaking out. If it was the fuel neck, would'nt it do it all the time? Or maybe the tank is rusted on top and it's leaking from there and once it's past that point from the top of the tank it quits. Any suggesstions? Who made a good inexpensive replacement tank?

sounds like the fuel neck where it goes into the tank to me
may have to have it brazed at local radiator shop
the hole is at the top side of the tank on the edge
when level it cant really do it, a slant drivers side is when it would do it, rather than level

You may need to go above the head of your local dealer to press the issue, call customer service or GM corp. but there was a safety recall on some 3rd gens for that. Doesn't matter how long its been or how many folks owned the car. They must replace it. Dealers will not wanna at first till you push the issue.

Doward beat me to it!

Yep your 1991 had a recall out for pinholes at the filler-neck-to-tank welds...
You could get a tank from a junkyard- but you'd have to drop the axle and exhaust out... not sure if you want to do that on a sandy junkyard "floor".

if your tank is as dusty as the one on my 86 once you fill up and drive aroun (making many hard corners to mix the fuel around) you should be able to crawl under the car and see where the fuel is coming from. if the neck is wet, bingo. if it appears to be coming from the top of the tank it may be as simple as replacing your sending unit O-ring. and of course the fuel pump while you are there
