I have 89 2.8l camaro. I have a manual trans. and when i try to down shift from 4th to 3rd it wont let me go straight into 3rd, i have to like put it a little into 2nd and then it will let me put it into 3rd. Any1 have any ideas of what the problem is? thanx

 

sounds liek u may have some b ad synchros.next time u try down shifting right before u try moving the shifter into 3rd gear,tap the gas pedal to rev the engine up a bit, and see if that helps

 

I tried it and it did not work thanx anyways i tried shifting through the gears while the car was off and even then when i try and go from 4th to 3rd it won't let me

 

any1 hav any other ideas?

 

maybe the dog ears on the collar are messed up really badly from someone mis-shifting all the time.
