my hatch strut mount broke. i know weird huh... anyway i welded it up, thought i would post my before and after shots so you can all make fun of my crappy weld. it looks like garbage, but atleast the center part penetrated enough to actualy do something. the shot of the weld on the other side is where i burned through the first time, i filled it with weld, i KNOW that penatrated

once i painted it and put the weatherstripping back on you could not tell anything had been done. but my hatch strut no longer wobbles with the hatch opening and closing.

 

Those do that alot.... fortunately it's all covered up, and they don't give extra points for appearance right there, so it's all good.

On my car, one did that, it looked like the factory weld was so lame that it maybe had never been right since day one. Probably broke the first time they closed the hatch on the assembly line.

 

in mine the "weld" was about the size if the I in the middle of this sentance. you can see it in the first picture. i don't know how long it has been broken, i noticed it about a year ago, then re-noticed it last week, remembered thinking i had to fix it and finally decided to do somthing about it.
