i got a 89 rs 2.8l also..and here is the mind boggling part!i bought the car for $800 bucks off this lady that said it was a great running car and that it was her baby...now i found out that when i put it on a lift that its pretty rusted out.i took sheet metal and made a get by for now floor.the inner wheel wells are almost gone fiberglassed them to hold them together.she ditched it but denies its..the front passager side fram is smashed along with the oil pan and the y pipe.im on a very limited budget and this being my only car i had to bandage it up the best i could.it has a 5 speed man trany.when shifting and cruising down the road the car likes to hop up and down and its flexing at the trany mount.i had to buy a new iac that had no effect on the idle..so i had to unscrew it till it hits the hole and then leave it unpluged.before that it idled at 2000-2200 rpm and when you rev it up took a little long for the idle to come down it wanted to stay at around 3000-3500 rpm. no its at about 900 at idle with iac unpluged i also replaced the throttle posision sensor.and a tune up.and a new computer.and not to mention the fact that the oil and speed gauge shacks back and forth..and the egr had a leak in it so i unhooked it and used a block off plate .im a mechanic an this car is physical beyond my understanding of what is going on..and the list goes on and on......now for your guys input..

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
look around. you will find a donor body later. right now you can maybe get to know the car a bit before you get your "Baby". consider this one your beater, testbed car and learn about them, then save some cash and get a bettone later. you can find them for pretty cheap on Ebay. Got mine for $500. put in a new starter and battery and drove it home. been running since.
