I have what I think is a freez plug leaking.It's a quarter sized recessed plug just below the waterpump and just above smog pump mount.
My question is how hard is it to remove and replace?
Is there a repair I could do, instead of replace??
Where can I buy a new one ???

 

is this on front of the block., and are you sure its not from the dow hole on the water pump its self? just wondering!

 

To fix the leak, if it really is from the freeze plug, you'll have to remove the plug and replace it. Knock it sideways with a hammer and punch/screwdriver, then pull it out with a pair of pliers. Then tap the new one in with a socket the size of the freeze plug so that it goes in evenly.

 

Thanks guys.. yes , it's on the front of the block just below and to the left of the water pump and just above the smog pump bracket.
As discribed it's a quarter sized recessed plug.I can wipe it after a drive and slowely a small drop or 2 will appear in the recessed plug.Like its coming from the side wall of the plug and pooling in the bottom of the plug.
Are they expensive , and where can I get it ??

 

They're pretty cheap and any auto parts store should have it. If you can't find it, just talk to anyone who rebuilds motors and they can get you one.

 

if this was my daily driver and not some performance rig

i'd slap some JB Weld on it and call it done
