In the event my computer turns out to be bad, what other cars' computers are compatable with my 89 2.8 automatic. They said it would be a couple hundred dollars to get one new, but the local junkyard sells them for $35. And there's about 10 v6 thirdgens there.

 

Well considering '89 was the first year for VATs, you would have to get at least another '89 computer to keep that function, I dunno what would happen if you left the ignition module the same (if it would conflict with an older computer), and I can't remember what year they stopped using the cold start injectors ('88 maybe?) so you might not be able to use an earlier computer for that reason either. And of course, can't use the '90 & up without the conversion to speed density setup, but that might not be a bad thing anyway
