Cold temp. idle issue

Many new parts later, most problems fixed, and still ive got a bad idle problem in cold weather cold starts. The problems I know of on this car don't seem like they could be affecting idle only when it's cold. I have one slightly leaky injector, on the same cylinder as i have broken manifold bolts (gonna fix eventually).

There's the background, now to the problem
My car, when the ambient temperature is below, say, 50 or so, on a cold start, idles from about 750 to 2000 rhythmically, almost dying at the bottom end. It's never died, but it is annoying. About when the temp gauge starts moving, the idle settles down at a good point of about 1200 or so. Warm temp starting is OK, and cold when already warmed up is OK.

What's the problem? Anyone else have this problem? It's about the only engine problem left, and I'd really want to get it fixed.

Sorry about the length. I tend to type a lot.

Maybe a slow or sticky idle air controller, causing the computer to constantly overshoot its desired goal, and then undershoot it trying to compensate.
