I was just wondering where i can find high performance V6 engines that will work for my 1991 camaro. im wanting at least a 3.6 but if you know of any high power to weight ratio engines im interested in hearing about where i can get my hands on one. all input is appreciated.

tell us how much you're willing to spend, and we'll tell what hi-po v6's to consider
for me im willing to spend a bit. im planning on working on my car in a couple years when i actually have money. but i would be willing to pay up to 8k. which if a V6 cost 8k then it better be good.

Why worry about it now, then? Didn't you say your current V6 has low miles?
In a couple of years, the technology is going to be a lot different!
The best V6 (stock) that I have seen lately is in the Cadillac STX. It is a variable valve train (VVT) that produces something like 240 RWHP out of the box.

i'm half tempted to eventually use one of the new 2.0L turbo direct injection ecotec 260HP 260TQ in stock form.
or the 3.6 in the CTS..
if your willing to spend 8K though, a V8 at that price will net more power stock and have a better upgrade path.. you can get an LS1 for less than that, 300+hp stock... a head and cam swap and your kicking 400HP...

Crate LS2/460LE combo goes for $10k...
Already priced them!
And It's more like 375hp/425ft-lbs...
.
Used is half that.

i like the idea of the six speed manuel for increased top speed and i was wondering if there was anywhere to get them cheaper than 7k

Out of a wrecked car, the ones I priced were crate with only dyno time and priming.
what kind of specs does the 4.3 vortec have (horsepower, Torque)
how many miles is on the engine

I'd slow down and consider your options, and do LOTS of reading and learning, before you start thinking about buying stuff.

4.3 is a good engine, last one I had was in a 1986 GMC 1500 - it went 298,000 mi!
You will have to change your bell housing to a 90*/V8 style.
Looks like they are 160-200hp and 230-250ftlb depending on year.

I guess I didn't even ask about your mechanical ability.Member
converting to a 4.3 will take just as much effert as converting to a 350...

my mechanical abilities = zero but i do want to learn how to do things with my car and thats one reason i want to get another engine so that i can try to achieve something myself

Well I would suggest trying a 3.4 swap first, it's almost a bolt-in deal.
Use the search and see how some other people did it (and not all of them are super mechanics either).

where would u suggest me getting a 3.4 when/if i decide to get one

4th gen F-Body is a good place to start, from a wrecked car or junk yard. Some salvage places even have web pages that you can search a database and have the parts delivered (although delivery will be cheaper if to a business, i.e a mechanic friend

Why, yes they do...and they can rev!Member
Thats part of the reason I chose to keep(gobackto)stay with the 60* engine instead of the 350. I can add boost more easily..

You can easily change to forged pistons and you'll have completely forged internals.

Not to mention we have an extra foot of room under the hood.
