no start
My 86 firebird has a 2.8 l mpfi engine . It was running fine then it lost power but still run . I limped home .I tried to start it and it cranks tries to start but wont . Changed out distributor cause it was rusty. It is getting fuel and spark. Ive checked the starter wires all have proper voltage. Im lost at what else it could be . Any sugestion ?The timing was checked and the distibutor is positioned right. When i try to start it seems to fire but just wont runThere is no smell of flooding. there is fuel going to the engine .i pushed on the pressure vaslue on plenum and fuel comes out .could i have a faulty pickup in the distributor

does it backfire when u try to start it?
does it start to crank over and all the sudden liek just stop and then start going again like the starter just shut off for a second.
do u smell excessive gasoline smell from the ex system?
have u tried spraying some ether/starting fluid in the tb when u tried to start it just to see if it fires

Time for a full tune up. If your dizzy cap was bad.....
time for plugs n wires too.
both 2nd n 3rd gens I have owned eat up ign parts like candy.
And they often just want new parts.
With computer cars yo ucan go a bit longer but pre 80s folks did full tune up twice a year. Darn cheap if ya get life warranty parts.
