First engine upgrade?

im not sure which one i should go with first. Headers or an exhuast system. IM only 17, so im on a pretty tight budget, lol.

i have an 89 rs 2.8 and i want to be able to at least give my friends 98 3.8 firebird and my other friends 84 3.1 camaro a good run.

i would do exaust first the stock manifolds give u prety good low end power and the headers give u more high end or you could go with a cam kit ie springs, lifyers cam exc. or you could go all out save your money and buy one of daves turbo kits for 3,000

wish i could buy a turbo kit. that would be nice. Theres no way i can spend that much. I have so many other tihngs to pay for, not to mention a gf(that takes a lot of $$). I thought about making my own cat back exuast system using 2 dynomax(i tihnk thats the brand, cant really remember) bullits. I tihnk that might work.

How much hp gain could i expect from adding a good exhuast system?

dont make your own exhaust, just buy the dynomax catback for it, there great for the price. then headers and intake. cam, lifters, Ect.but headers and exhaust first.

actually first what you should do, if you havent already, do a FULL tune up. search for TomP tune up. that way youll get the most out of any modifications you do later. if you have done all that already, then id agree, the dynomax catback w/ a highflow cat convertor is the way to go. and 50 state legal so it doesnt matter where you are.
