Port & Polished Heads, has it been done?
Hey guys,
Ive searched but havent found an answer. Has anyone sucessfuly port & polished their heads on a 3.1 v6? If yes was it worth the effort? Reason im asking is i found a pair of heads on ebay for 50 bucks, thought while the camaro is in the garage for the winter i could buy those heads and if i screw them up, im only out of $50.

Its just what it sounds like. You port the ports to allow more air to reach the combustion chamber and to allow the exhaust to exit faster. Then polishing them is smoothing out the ports to there is little to no resistance.

a little more defined on polishing: you can polish the exhaust ports to look like mirrors and it will help flow. The intake side, you don't really polish much, you want to leave it a little rough to help the air and fuel mix. theory says that polishing an intake port too much can hurt performance because of the air and fuel not mixing as well.
