Bought a 1989 TTA last week. Previous owner disconnected the Oil sending unit and the turbo PSI switch. I got the oil switch reconnected but I cant find where the switch/sending unit for the turbo is located. Any ideas??

 

totally forgot, but dont paya attention top it mine was off at least 5 psi as compared to a new gauge on pillar..........

I think your looking for the map sensor, it should be mounted to either the firewall(behind and to the left of the coilpack)or on the ac/heater box. It's a standard GM 3-bar map sensor.

Thanks guys. Im going to check it out in the morning. Previous owner had a "Scanmaster" wired into the car that supposedly gave a digital readout of those things but I just want to put the car back to stock trim..

 

It should be a 2 BAR MAP sensor. All info I've come accross in rgards to this indicates 2 BAR MAP.

 

The Grand National and T-Type/Turbo T used a 2 bar map sensor when equipped with a boost gauge(digital dash cars got a simple pressure switch instead of a map sensor). Reason is they ran less than 15psi from the factory and had a 15psi gauge.

The TTA runs 16.5psi from the factory and has a factory 20psi boost gauge which is why it comes with, and needs, a 3 bar sensor.
