Replaced vacuum lines - now giant sucking sound at cannister!

So breaking yet another hard plastic vacuum line gave me the motivation to replace them all with the windshield washer hose avail at advance. Bought the plastic connector kit there too for $10. The only hard plastic left goes from PCV and is quite larger than the rest.

OK, so now I have this noticeably loud sucking sound from the canister, nothing is leaking, is that the sound you get with a functional vacuum system that doesn't have any holes?

Regards

Was the inside diameter of the new lines significantly larger than the original hard lines? My vacuum syatem is in superb shape and I don't have that hissing sound.

The old ones actually fit perfectly inside the new ones making a nice tight seal, which is why I got that size.

I didn't replace any of the rubber, so I wonder if I have a pinhole on the passenger side lines there. Or maybe a funky canister. I never understood that part of the vacuum system.

I'm glad this came up because I've always replaced what was there (PepBoys sells both the hard/soft lines) and didn't know if the size of the I.D. had anything to do with function. Anybody know?

Does the top of your canister have an electrical connector attached to it?..in other words does it have a solenoid.Mine has one and the solenoid is supposed to be in the closed position and the ECM activates it at a giving rpm to open .If its stuck open its basically a vacuum leak.Pull the line off next to the connector and see if it holds vacuum .if it doesnt then its bad..
