I have a 1986 v6 2.8l camaro that has really done me well since i have gotten it about 2 years ago. it has a 167,000 and with a few minor upgrades has been able to beat a 1991 RS 305 camaro. anyways for a while now my car seems run great other, then runs really sluggish at other. other times it seems like it dont want to idle it skips down to like 500 to 600 rpm then jumps back up to a 1000 and just keeps going up and down. it has a new timeing chain, new distributor cap, wires, plugs,fuel filter, air filters, and new vaccum lines, and also the distributor has been taken apart and cleaned. I dont really know what the problem is and why it does it sometimes and not other. can anyone please help me.

 

if you put on all new vaccum lines check them all to make sure the are connected good and not leaking.

 

well i actually found a crack in one of the vacum well not really the vacum line itself but coming off the egr solenid were the plastic thing stick out from it were the vacum line plugs into it there was a crack in that plastic part. i check it because we put in to a computer and it through up a map/maf sensor low and vacum to high and then it through up a egr failure which made us check it the only problem is in a new egr solenid is like 93 buck do you know of a cheap place that sales camaro parts?

 

try the junk yard for the cheapest parts, but you never know what your gonna get. but ive always had pretty good luck.

 

I got a EGR solenoid and valve from a local pick n pull for like $20.
