mpg difference between 2.8 v6 and stock v8?

Just what the title says...

I've got a 1986 2.8 V6. With a topped off tank to empty I get about 300ish miles, give or take like 30, more on the give side. I'm not really sure and my driving habits change from day to day. It's my daily driver, too.

I'm wondering what my MPG difference would be with a V8?

Also, I've thought about this....since my cars VIN and all reads its a V6, if I switch to a V8, how will my insurance know? I'm 17 by the way, so if this is a dumb question, thats why. There aren't any emmisions in FL, so I'm guessing the only way would be if a cop pulled me over and checked under the hood and noticed the difference...

If you are debating what you want for a daily driver I own a V6 camaro with the 3.1 and I use it as my primary mod of trasportation. I get about 30 mpg on the highway and 20 In the city. These are numbers I got by Filling my tank up to absoluty full untill the gas is at the very top and not untill the pump Clicks off. After I drive around for a few hundred miles I will Fill up exactly the same way again taking the numbers off the pump and off the trip and siting down and doing some Honest Math involving a lot of decimal's and trying to keep the rounding and Guessing to a minamam. The last time I rane the numbers I got 22.5 mpg for mostly around town with a very light foot, and a fresh tune up. That Hole blurb might seem pointless but you did ask about MPG comparasons. And If you are wondering about What swap will give what mileage it's good to know what your paticutlar car will give in regards to MPG. A reasonable Fresh (with simular Fuel Distrabution Eg Fuel injected to fuel injected or carb to carb) Small block V8 Will give better MPG then a worn out V6 that has low compreshen and Wicked blow by. Sure there are people who disagerree with me but these are the same people who realy want to belive that the tornanado works in geting extra power and milalage from a simple Thing you put into your intake and Honestly belive that there is some big goverment conspericaly that has stoped the 100mpg carborator from becoming main streem.

Insurince depends on state to state, carrior to carrior. I have heard a few stories about Swaps casuing insurince clames to be cancled. IT depends on teh risks you are willing to take. And if you are intrested in swaping a motor in a daily driver, take a good look at what shape the motor is in. If it's a lump waiting to die the look into the swap. If it's in good shape and Still profomes well keep it in there. Swaps are a lot of work even if it's a direct replacment swap. You are eather paying somebody else to do it or you are doing it yourself. eather way you are with out a car for a little while. That can suck realy bad espetaly when you need to go hunt down difrent motor mounts and you make eighty trips to the parts store for the "well Might as well replace it now" part like a cluch or new motor mounts.
