Little something I did to the engine bay...
Alot of you have made your own little ram/cold air intake with the filter in the same spot but just some tubing running to it instead of the plastic box to the canister stock set-up.
I did, too, a while ago. But I really didnt' like how my radiator to thermostat hose was pressed up against my MAF sensor, and how my filter really only had about 1/8" inch of space where it was....picture below...
Yesterday I had it apart trying some stuff to get my idle problem gone (another story) and I decided to remove the metal pan sorta thing underneath the filter and smog canister. It was on there with 3 bolts, two came out with a slight struggle and one actually broke after a few turns. I was able to drill 2 holes and use the original screws that held down the canister (I only had one, it was only held down with one before) But I've got it down with both now, so thats another plus. I painted that corner with some black acrylic spray paint, that added a nice touch. The hose is still against it, but now it sits more over the spot where my MAF attaches to that blue silicon connecter. (The picture is from before)
I was bored, not sure if many of you have allready done this, but thought I'd share. I wasn't really sure where else to post this, either, but us V6 guys kinda have this little section as our little dwelling place it seems, so I put it here.
It looks nicer also with the smog canister sitting about an 1 1/2" lower.
