Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

yeah u know the big black rubber plug on the back of the throttle body,it kept blowing out the back under boost so we zip tied it to the intake well that held up but the couplers kept blowing apart.

i need a break from the car for a bit as me and rob thrashed on the car every night from like 6pm to midnight for almost 2 weeks to get it ready.for last night.

atleats now i have some data logs to tune a bit more. i am seriously out of injector, i was seeing duty cycles as high as 125%.last night was a bad night to run as well with ambient air temps being in the 95* range, in boost i was seeing 180-200* air temps after the intercooler.
i was also getting very audible knock and pinging right before the pipes would blow off,so i have some timming issues that also need to be adressed before i make another pass.

but as rob said video will be up in a few days

next time out i will have a wideband in the car

oh btw as far as wieght reduction my car now wieghs in at nice 2900 pounds,and ive still got alot of wieght to remove from the car so i should be looking at a 26xx range by the time im done

They burn it onto a DVD for me once I'm finished. From there, I save it onto my hard drive, and will then upload it onto you-tube for you-guys....

Could you take a picture of the car? I'm skeptical that you have it that light. How are you measuring it? Unless you have a plexi rear hatch and front there's no way you are lighter than me. We have the same drivetrain and chassis and I know mine is pretty close to completely gutted!

Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

Thats just crazy. I've gutted the hood, removed the hinges/latches, no front nose baffleing, no ac, no smog, no cat, auto tranny, no rear carpet, no rear seats, 4th gen cloth fronts, no hatch struts, no rear crash bumper, 16x8 crosslaces, no heat shielding, 4th gen rear disk brakes.

And I'm 2930lbs with half tank!

How did you do it differently? I want the car lighter myself, so share your secret!

fiberglass hood, no ex system(just a dump pipe on the turbo outlet) ac delete no heater box. removed all the heat shields under the car,no rear seats or front passenger seat, weld draglight rims,no carpet padding,and the car dosent have power anything except for door locks, the car wieght was 29xx its 3,100 with me in it with a half tank

HAHAHA, over at ftv6, you put the xx's in the opposite position. Are you trying to hide your weight?

Let me drive and we will save some more seeing I'm a pipsqueek with a mean right uppercut, lmao.

Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

I had mine weighted at a dump with a certified scale. I think they must be off though. They said my flatbed trailer weighted 800lbs They must be off, but its certified?!?!?! Hopefully I can get a car scale put together some day.

Just for the record, which is lighter? A hardtop, or a ttop without the tops?

Updating this thread for Dave;

Here's a short little clip of us arriving at the track, w/Dave making some last minute adjustments to the MegaSquirt. You'll hear Paul in the background telling Dave to spool it up. Streetfire did an excellent job of messing up the sound (the crackling must have been a freebee lol)....

Enjoy! Click here....

Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

Update continuation;

Here's a little clip of Dave spooling up the turbo, which, I might add, has absolutely no problem doing upon light throttle. Afterward, he then makes his way over to the lanes to make his pass....

Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

Update continuation;

Here's the clip of Dave making his way through the burn out box, giving quite the crowd pleasing burn out performance. Unfortunately, due to the intake piping being blown off, along with some excessive pinging, dave had to shut down just past the 330 mark....

Re: Project : Twin Turbo Camaro

Final Continuation;

Back in the pits, we're pretty confident we got the bugs all worked out (considering no wideband to tune with). Intake tubing is back on, and the pinging is somewhat gone. Of course, the track is done for the night, but she would have made a very impressive run, nonetheless....

Paul's Grand National blew the flange right off of his turbo header, he still ran a low eleven second pass though. That '68 Firebird he raced is CRAZY FAST, it ran a 10.20 (without using his nitrous), to Paul's 10.40....

Edit: Thought you were referring to Paul's run. The noise you heard was Dave slamming into the wall at the end of the track at a whopping 5-mph....

^ If Mike is going, I'm sure Tom will be around. Prolly not leaving for awhile, still waiting for him to get here. Don't feel like racing the LS1 tonight, so I'm only riding shotgun. Should be a good time though. either way.....

7400 rpm max this timeso much for ppl saying i kept my foot in it the whole way down the track.
wot threw 1st of on the 1-2 or right after the 1-2 shift then 25% throttle the rest of the track on pretty much both passes
